Hello, I would appreciate your help in spreading the word about this bi-weekly event. Radio Amateur Open Stage Nicholas Nace hosts this new and exciting bi-weekly show. A combination open mic and booked acts provide both entertainment for the crowd and a chance for anyone to do anything! This weeks guest include:

Writer, comedian and 2 time finalist for the Andy Kaufman award Mike Amato. Writer and proud art star Jim Melloan, Off the wall comic heart throbs Remick Benice and Milton Katz and music from the antifold maestro Ben Kreiger.

Musician and producer Nicholas Nace has been capturing the sounds of the New York City underground for over a decade as a documentarian and avid contributor to downtown open mic scene. He is a member of the band A BRIEF VIEW OF THE HUDSON (named Best Folk Duo by the NYPress in 2005) opening Diane O’Debra’s NYC Talent Show Open Mic and Liam McEneaney’s Tell Your Friends Comedy Show since 2006. Radio Amateur Open Stage is a tribute to the non-traditional artists and performers who are the unsung heroes of NYC’s art scene providing 8 minutes of no-strings-attached stage time to anyone wishing perform or pontificate.

Radio Amateur Open Stage takes Nicholas Nace’s passion for producing to the next level with it’s corresponding podcast RadioAmateurNYC available at radioamateurnyc.wordpress.com. (add past guests) Nicholas’s most recent projects include the musical score for TELL YOUR FRIENDS: The Concert Film (2010) featuring comedians Liam McEneaney, Kristen Schall, and Reggie Watts and the Art Star Sounds Compilation (2005) featuring Andy Warhol superstar Taylor Mead, and antifolk heroes Kimya Dawson and Langhorn Slim.

Nicholas Nace has a knack for cultivating community and documenting the underground art scene in a way that is both ethnographic and entertaining. As one fan put it, Nace’s events create “an almost unbearable concentration of twisted words and sounds that seep into peripheral awareness. Proudly exalting a voice of dissent, a call to arms, a blatant exploitation of deviant culture refusing soul-surrender to the limits of expression.” –RAYMOND SANCHEZ. Sacramento, CA

“…Part of the renaissance blues and folk music coming out of New York. Mixing southern comfort with metro cards and pigeons.” -PLATEUR MAGAZINE
